Angelus Suede Dye Black 3oz

To dye suede bags, footwear and other small surfaces, use the special Angelus Suede Dye Black 3oz. Suede is basically the inside of the leather, and unlike smooth leather, the fabric is soft with a distinct fibrous texture. Because of this special quality, you need to use special suede dye for this fabric. Suede dye is most effective for this material as it penetrates into the fibres of suede leather. Applying normal Angelus leather paint to the surface will not adhere and can even peel off. For dyeing suede, use our durable Angelus Suede Dye Black 3oz.

Applying Angelus Suede Dye Black 3oz

Applying Suede dye is slightly different from dyeing smooth leather with regular leather paint. This is because you do not apply a layer of paint to the leather, but instead a dye to the fibres of the leather. When using Angelus Suede Dye Black 3oz, it is best to follow these steps:

  • Brush the suede to remove dust particles and other dirt.
  • Apply the first layer of suede dye evenly with the cotton ball provided.
  • Make sure not to apply too much dye at once, as it will not be absorbed well by the suede and may start to peel off.
  • Apply subsequent coats, after letting the first coat dry, until the desired result is achieved.
  • Before using the suede item, we recommend allowing the last applied layer to dry for 24 hours.
Please note! When dyeing suede, it is not possible to lighten a dark colour. Would you like to dye another type of leather, such as smooth leather? Then be sure to check out our competitively priced sets that you can order online for a great price!

How to use Angelus
Angelus black leather paint application is much easier than you might think. It is a matter of making sure you have a good preparer, by using the Angelus Preparer and Deglazer, for example. By doing this step by step, you will quickly achieve beautiful results.
  • Preparation

First, make sure the leather is thoroughly pre-treated, for example with Angelus' Preparer and Deglazer

  • Painting

Apply a thin layer of paint, covering seams and cracks. After 10 to 15 minutes, add more coats until you reach the desired finish, usually after three to four coats.

You have questions? We have answers.

  • Q. For how long does the paint need to dry?

    A. We recommend letting each thin coat dry for 10-25 minutes; the final coat should be left to dry for 24 hours before applying finishers.

  • Q. How can I reduce the glossiness of the paint?

    A. The Angelus Duller was developed to specifically reduce glossiness in leather paint. Before painting, it is both easy and quick to mix the Duller with your leather paint to get a more matt finish.

  • Q. How much paint should I use?

    A. This depends on the size, type, and intended use of the item you are going to paint. A pair of shoes such as trainers can be painted with three thin coats using one 29.5 ml jar.

  • Q. Is applying a white coat of paint necessary before doing anything else?

    A. Even though Angelus Leather Paint has great opacity, lightening dark-coloured leather can be tricky. We thus recommend applying a coat of white leather paint first, to ensure the best colour quality.

  • Q. Should I apply the leather paint in several coats?

    A. Yes, always apply the paint in several layers using thin coats. An excessively thick coat of paint will not remain elastic, resulting in cracks and tears.
